History
The city was born on the Fourth of July
in 1904 when the railroad came through town on the St. Louis, Brownsville and Mexico Railroad. Kingsville is located on part of a Mexican land grant purchased by Captain Richard King in 1852.
Kingsville’s history can be seen in the historic downtown area, which houses many unique shops and diners, including
the King Ranch Saddle Shop, Seller's Market and Harrel's Kingsville Pharmacy. Three local museums also help to tell
the story of the area, the King Ranch Museum, located in the Henrietta Memorial Center, the John E. Connor Museum at Texas
A&M - Kingsville, and the newly opened Railroad Depot Museum.
